Lone Wolf - 一匹狼

臨時国会大詰めの昨日、元行革大臣の渡辺喜美が野党の衆院解散要求決議案に自民党でただひとり賛成した。これまで行革の旗を振って最前線で孤軍奮闘してきた渡辺にとって、麻生がやっているのはその梯子を外し、行革の積み上げ努力をことごとくゴミ箱に捨てるに等しいわけで、その怒りは目に見える。この行動の痛快さはかつて「スカートの裾が踏まれていた」と小泉元首相を揶揄した田中真紀子をも凌ぐだろうし、一般人には極めて理解しやすい行動だ。
そんなことでは何も起こらないとうそぶく政治家も多かろうし、それが政治の現実かも知れないが、こうしたさざ波を甘く見ない方が良い。


On the closing day of Diet in Lower House, Yoshimi Watanabe the former Minister of Administrative Reform cast his vote to support opposing party’s proposal to immediately dissolve the Diet. He had been struggling all alone to push the issue of reforming administration forward as the Minister, but what the present Prime Minister Aso practically did was to throw each effort from being established to the trash altogether, and thus his towering rage was obvious. His straightforward action was quite digestible to public and it looked so cool and even cooler than Makiko Tanaka who once commented that ex-Prime Minister Koizumi was actually placing his foot on her skirt while telling her to go forward. This small ripple may be interesting to watch.
