江戸東京博物館のダ・ヴィンチ展は実質上ダ・ヴィンチ・フォロワーの絵画展に「糸巻きの聖母」が来賓として加わったような美術展だった。昨秋京都で観たフェルメール＋レンブラントも同様で、最近はこうした周辺作を集めた催しが多いのだろうか、確かにそれも勉強になるという意義もあろうが、観る側としてはやや拍子抜けの感は否めない。
ダ・ヴィンチの自筆作品としては他に若干の描画とノートの展示があって、個人的には「花の研究」に魅力を感じた。
The exhibition of da Vinci in Edo Tokyo Museum was virtually a show of "da Vinci followers" where the famous Madonna dell'aspo had its appearance as if the celebrity invitee. The same kind of impression I had was Vermeer+Rembrandt last autumn in Kyoto. The collection of surroundings would be worthwhile in terms of deeper knowledge, but it is at the same time a slight discouragement for those expecting to see master works. Among few others by Leonard himself in display, I thought the drawing of flowers was fascinating.
