Baudelaire – 悪の華

先日のルオーとマティス展に触発されて、マティスが挿絵を描いたボードレールの詩集「悪の華」をネットで探し回った。米国の画商がオリジナルを$7500で売っているのが究極の選択だが、そこまでの決断はいずれそのうちにと先送りして、次にChêne版というのに遭遇したが、これはコンパクト版サイズのようで敬遠。最終的には赤い表紙のHazan版で状態の良い中古品18ユーロというのをアマゾン・フランスで見つけたので、これを発注した。当然ながら画面がフランス語なので、昔を思い出しながら何とか処理を進めたが、クレジットカードさえあれば何とかなるようだ。送料が10ユーロほどで、本日無事到着した。サイズも235x295mmと大判でまずは満足。


Driven by the recent exhibition of Rouault and Matisse, I cruised in the Internet to find Baudelaire’s “Les Fleurs du Mal” with the illustrations by Matisse. A gallery in the US sells the original for $7,500 and it is definitely the ultimate decision that I would rather postpone for the moment. Next was Chêne edition but it was not my choice because of its compact size. In the end, I came across with Hazan edition with red cover and the used one in good condition was available for 18 Euros (plus 10 Euros for shipment) at Amazon France. The order procedures were all in French on the display, so I had to recall my old memory but it worked and the book has arrived today.
