PiCycle - バイク兼用自転車

自転車ネタをもうひとつ。サンフランシスコのベンチャーが発売する新種の電動自転車、パイシクルです。何と言ってもアーチ型のアルミフレームがユニーク。価格はAudiの半額以下、$2500とか。タイヤは前輪24、後輪26インチだが、ホイールベースが113cmなのでやや大型か。重量は28kg。ペダルとモーターの連携のみならず、モーターだけでの走行も可能で、厳密な電動アシスト車ではないとなると日本の公道を走れるかどうかは疑問。


Another topic of bicycles: It’s motor-driven PiCycle developed by a San Francisco venture company. The aluminium arch frame is definitely unique in design, and the price is reported $2500 which is less than a half of Audi’s. The wheels are 24" front and 26" rear. The wheel base is 113cm long and it seems like a large bike.
As it can be driven by the motor alone without pedaling, it may not be regarded as “motor-assisted” vehicle by definition, and then it is questionable if it is allowed to run the streets in Japan.
