ことサイクルパーツに関しては、英国の通販ショップがとても元気あると思う。システム構築からサポートまで抜群のWiggle、プロモーション値引きがおいしいChain Reaction Cycles、さらにはRibbleなどいろいろあって、僕も国内のショップ以上にお世話になっているくらいだ。いつもプロモーションのタイミングを待って、さらに為替レートを意識しながら発注するようにしている。先日、「カンパなら安いよ」と米国の友人から教えてもらったのがShinybikesだ。ここは送料無料みたいなサービスはないし、割引クーポンなどの特典チャンスがどの程度あるのか不明だが、価格を見ると確かに安いものが多い。
僕はカンパ・コーラスのEPレバーとケーブルセット、その他小物などいくつかの品々をまとめて9/20に発注した。受注確認のメールはすぐ来たのでWiggleみたいに数日で商品が配達されるものと思っていたら、何も起こらず何日か経った。10/2になってショップから注文処理完了というメールが来て驚いた。商品を揃えるのに2週間近くかかったと言うことだ。同じ日にParcel Forceなる配送業者から発送案内と照会番号がメールで届き、連休前に通関に入ったようだが、結局商品を手にしたのは10/9だった。悪いことは重なるというのか、この2万円ちょっとの買い物に関税800円を徴収された。しかも注文した品物の中のひとつが不足していた。高々£5弱の工具だが、どう対処してくれるのか早速メールを送った。返事が楽しみだ。
Among several
active Internet cycle shops in England, I learned from a friend of mine that
the prices of Campy components were relatively low at Shiny Bikes, and I put an
order of Chorus control levers/cables and some other small things on September
20. They replied soon with an order confirmation, and I expected that the
package would arrive in a few days just like the case of Wiggle, but nothing
happened for a while. Another E-mail arrived on October 2, which was the
completion of the order, and it meant that it took almost 2 weeks for them to
get the things ready. The parcel was at customs on October 5 just before the
3-day holidays, so consequently it was delivered on October 9. This case was
unfortunate because I was charged 800 yen import duty (that occasionally
happens) and furthermore one item was missing. I definitely wrote to Shiny
Bikes immediately and am waiting to see how they respond.
