Bang & Olufsen phone – 電話機のデザイン

先日e-BayでB&Oの電話機BeoCom 6000を落札し、それが海を渡って昨日到着した。僕はかつてBeoCom 1401というシンプルなアナログ電話を長年愛用してきたが、このワイヤレス電話もそれに劣らず美しいデザインだ。因みに日本では販売されていない。オークションで落札した製品は中古品で、何と電話帳に100件近い登録が残っていて、この消去が大変だった。しかも取扱説明書が同梱されていなかったので、B&Oのサイトからダウンロードしたファイルを見て操作したのだが、期待通りに進まない。メインメニューにさえ辿り着けないのが最大の苦痛だ。キー配列や表示の違いから、おそらく欧州モデルと米国モデルの差なんだと思う。


I won a Beocom 6000 phone in e-Bay and received the delivery across the ocean yesterday. I have had the model 1401 for quite a while and this wireless phone is equally beautiful but not available in Japan. This phone was a used one, and in there were nearly hundred entries in its phonebook that I had to delete. It did not come with a user’s manual, so I downloaded one from B&O Community site. Unfortunately, it did not work as described. The primary headache was that I could not find how to get to the main menu. Probably it was due to the difference between European and US versions.
