Bend, Oregon - 引退後の新天地

会社を辞めて田舎に引っ越した友人を訪ねてオレゴンに来ている。都会を離れ、新築の一軒家を景色の良い山の中に購入し、リタイアメントを満喫しているというので、正に先を越された格好だ。降り立った小さなレッドモンド空港は無線LANが解放されていた。進んでる！
不動産の値段は都会の半分程度なので、ここなら射程範囲内とのことだったが、あたりからは遠くの山々が見晴らせて、本当に眺望の良い物件は3-4億くらいするそうだ。さすがアメリカの住宅で、とにかく広々として余裕の大器という趣、そこにエンジニアらしく細部の工夫も怠りなく加えられて、快適な住まいに仕上がっていた。寝室ごとにバスルームが付いているので、客としては居心地も申し分ない。これからリスニングルームを手作りで取り組むというので、こっちも負けないように追いかけたい。
