The Naked Gardeners

コッツウォルズのMalmesburyというビレッジに「裸の庭師」と呼ばれる人の庭園がある。ここはバラの好きな人には夢みたいな素晴らしい庭だ。正式にはAbbey House Gardensと言うので、教会の古い荒廃した敷地を買い取ったカップルが（裸になって）コツコツと時間をかけて作りあげたのだろう。その心意気はガーデニングのお手本と言えるし、何しろ庭造りを楽しんでいる姿勢が見える。バラに関しては英国最大級のコレクションとのことだ。裏手のやや急な傾斜を下に降りると池や竹藪があって、グッと趣を変えた散策ができるようになっている。
旅先でのネット環境が脆弱なので、写真は帰国後に更新しようと思う。



In Malmesbury village of Cotswolds is the home of the Naked Gardeners. Their garden is fabulous, a true dream for rose-lovers. Ian and Barbara bought this land probably long deserted shitting next to the abbey and took time to make their beautiful gardens (wearing no clothes on). It is a model of gardening and it definitely displays their attitude of affection into gardening. As for roses, their collection is the largest in UK. Pictures will be uploaded after my return to home because the internet environment on the road here is poor.
