While Japan was excited with the news of two Japanese laureates of Nobel Prize in Chemistry, I had a chance to listen to the last year’s concert that I had heard of a year ago. Nobel Prize Concert takes place on December 8, 2 days before the ceremony, which seems to be the tradition.
Last year, Martha Argerich played Ravel’s piano concerto and also Chopin’s Mazurka No. 2 for the encore. Her piano sounded ripe and vivid. Ravel’s concerto was interesting with variety of motives.
The video also included Prokofiev’s suite excerpts of “Romeo and Juliette” conducted by Yuri Temirkanov.
