Kumano Shrine and Kawayu - 熊野大社と川湯温泉

十津川温泉からの熊野古道を歩き終えて、古道本来の目的地となる熊野大社へはバスで向かった。簡単にお参りを済ませ、客待ちのタクシーに乗り込んで川湯温泉に行ってみた。ここは川岸の砂利を掘ると自然の露天風呂になることで知られている温泉地だ。平日で閑散としている中、僕は誰もいない共同浴場に入ってゆっくり山歩きの疲れを癒し、新宮行きのバスを待つことにした。その先は東京への深夜バスに乗って今回の吉野・熊野の旅は終わる。









Having done with the trekking of Kumano Kodo from Totsukawa Hot-spring, I took bus to Kumano Grand Shrine, the destination genuinely meant for Kumano Kodo. I made a prayer briefly and caught a taxi for Kawayu Hot-spring which is known for natural outdoor pool just by digging the riverside for yourself. Almost deserted in the weekday, I went to the empty public bath to ease my tired body and wait until the bus for Shingu arrived. And then the last step of this tour to Yoshino-Kumano National Park is the overnight express bus back to Tokyo.
