天気は一変して朝は雨だ。早出してサン・ジャン・ピエ・ド・ポールに行くか、あるいは市場に行くか、そんなプランは全部諦めてサンセバスチアンに早々に移動することにした。フランスから入る場合、ヘンダエで列車の乗り換えをするのがどうも一番効率的らしく、その線で動いてみた。乗換は簡単で駅を出ると右手がパーキングエリアになっていてその中にバスク鉄道(Euskotren)の駅舎がある。ほぼ30分おき、あるいは1時間おきに列車は出ていて、運賃も安い。行き先はLasarteとなっているが、Amara(サンセバスチアン)には止まるので心配はない。アマラ駅に着いたら、Easo通りをコンチャ湾方向に10分ほど歩くと宿のあるMarcial通りになる。選んだのはDonostia B&B、何と通りの向かいはZARAの大きな店という一等地にある。いくつかのブログでも好評だったが、着くとまずリュズさんが観光の手引きやお薦めのバルを丁寧に英語で教えてくれる。店の名前を忘れたりするともう一人のアマリアさんに話して思い出したりしている。とてもアットホームな雰囲気で、台所も使える。但し家庭の住構造の中に入るので、バス・トイレは兼用となるし、音もかなり筒抜けに近い。部屋のドアがギーギー鳴るので気を使うところもある。でも気にいった。
この日はウルグル山に登り、旧市街を歩いているうちに天気もかなり回復した。
The weather was completely down in the morning with rain. I gave up possible ideas of visiting St Jean Pied de Port or at least go to the market, and decided to move to San Sebastian. From France, a transfer of trains will be normally needed at Hendaye. It was quite easy because the station of Basque train was in the parking area on the right as I got out of SNCF station, and the fare was as cheap as 1.55 Euros. The train leaves every 30 minutes mostly. The destination says Lasarte but you don't have to worry because it stops at Amara in San Sebastian.
Donostia B&B is my lodging in this city because it was well reputed by some visitors in their blog, and it was in the prime location, next to big ZARA store. Upon receiving me in their 5th floor facility, Luz explained in English the full details about where to visit and which bars to try. Amaria is equally friendly, and you feel so much at home. You can use the kitchen, too. Bearing in mind that this is a home environment, the bath room is shared, and the sound is more or less transparent. The doors squeaked rather loud despite yourself. But I love staying here. I went to Monte Ulgull and the Old Town in the afternoon, and the weather gradually improved.
